The first module of the project “Poets of Today, Voices of Tomorrow” successfully concluded on Sunday, March 5th. This innovative project brings together organizations from Slovenia (Pionirski dom), Poland (ARTeria), Hungary (Pro Progressione), Finland (Association of Finnish Cultural Centers for Children), and Serbia (Heartefact), with the aim of bringing contemporary poetry closer to young people and the local community through a series of activities.
The first module included preparatory workshops where our national artistic team (poet Radmila Petrović, actress Vanja Ejdus, theater director Andrej Nosov, and composer Draško Adžić) worked with ten young poets selected through a public call: Aleksa Krstić, Anđela Đokić, Danilo Brakočević, Jelena Marinkov, Marija Dragnić, Maša Seničić, Milica Milosavljević, Stefan Mitić Tićmi, Tihana Smiljanić, and Valentina Bakti.
The workshops focused on popularizing and studying contemporary poetry, discussing issues and ideas, as well as preparing for further project activities in collaboration with high schools in Serbia. Currently, there is an open call for teachers, after which we will connect selected teachers with poets, who will work together to devise ways to introduce poetry to young people during poetry visits to schools in the second module.
This month, we will also celebrate World Poetry Day on March 21st, and meetings of European partner organizations will be held in Belgrade on March 28th and 29th to summarize the current results and prepare for the implementation of further activities.
The project is supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
