From September 26 to 29, 2025, the playwriting workshop “Personal Story as the Inspiration for a Theatre Play” was held at Heartefact House in Belgrade, marking the final activity of the two-year project “Fabulamundi – New Voices.”
The workshop was led by Patrik Lazić, director and playwright, and Oriol Morales Pujolar, his “twinning” colleague and playwright from Barcelona. Over the course of four days, a group of students from the Philological High School had the opportunity to explore their own experiences and memories as inspiration for writing monologues and short scenes.
Through a series of creative exercises, participants reflected on the most meaningful moments and places from their lives. Drawing from these personal insights, they began developing the first drafts of their texts, which they will continue to refine in the coming months with the support of their mentors.
After the workshop, participants will also have the opportunity to attend the performance “Our Son” by Patrik Lazić — an example of a contemporary theatre piece based on a personal story.
This workshop continues the successful collaboration between Heartefact and the Philological High School in Belgrade. A similar program was held last April, and fruitful cooperation was also achieved through the project “Poets of Today, Voices of Tomorrow.”
The workshop was organized as part of the European network of playwrights “Fabulamundi – New Voices”, represented in Serbia by Biljana Srbljanović and Patrik Lazić. Within the project, 66 playwriting workshops for young people have been held across more than ten European countries. The project is supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
