Human Rights Leadership

Through the Human Rights Leadership Program (HRL), which is being implemented from 2024 to 2026, Heartefact provides support to those advocating for the human rights of minority and marginalized groups in Serbia, thereby influencing their visibility and positive social change. The key activities include supporting individuals and organizations to engage in the field of human rights protection. The program, which Heartefact implements in partnership with the Slovenian Institute 8th March, addresses issues of social exclusion, violence, and the position of marginalized and minority groups in Serbia, promoting a democratic political culture and respect of human rights.

The program includes personalized support for 20 individuals (annually) engaged in human rights advocacy, financial support designed to back the initiatives of the leaders involved in the project that contribute to the development of human rights in Serbia, as well as the creation of an informal network of individuals engaged in promoting social change and human rights. The program also involves the production of theater performances on topics such as social exclusion, violence, and marginalization, as well as public campaigns advocating important aspects of human rights protection in Serbia. Finally, a special focus of the program is on the analysis and development of drafts for new policies or recommendations aimed at institutional changes.

The program is implemented with the financial support of the European Union.

Human Rights Leadership Program Seminar Was Held

From December 11 to 15, 2025, Heartefact, in partnership with the Slovenian 8th of March Institute, organized a seminar within the Human Rights Leadership Program. The goal of the seminar was to empower 22 activists from different parts of Serbia, selected through a public call to participate in this one-year program.

With the panel “Silence Is Not Golden,” we launched a campaign that encourages to speak up!

Organized by Heartefact, the panel titled Silence Is Not Golden marked the launch of a campaign of the same name, aimed at empowering individuals to recognize, understand, and respond to violence — rather than remain silent.
