Heartefact Fund is looking for the Financial and Administrative Grant Assistant to support the implementation of the Culture for Development project in North Macedonia. The project is supported the Government of Switzerland and is implemented by Heartefact Fund from the end of 2024 to the end of 2028.
The Culture for Development project is a comprehensive, long-term intervention in the field of culture and arts in the Republic of North Macedonia. Within the framework of the Swiss Cooperation Programme in the Republic of North Macedonia for 2025–2028, the project recognizes cultural rights, including access to art and culture, as fundamental human rights and powerful enablers of inclusive societal development, civic participation, and democratic engagement.
As the first long-term support instrument in the field of arts and culture in the Republic of North Macedonia, the Culture for Development project seeks to build upon existing cultural resources, enhance local knowledge, and unlock creative potential, particularly within the independent cultural scene. The project aims to contribute to the growth of the arts and the shaping of socio-political norms, recognizing culture as a vital tool for fostering a more open, democratic, and interconnected society. It also plays a crucial role in social cohesion and inclusive development, acknowledging the transformative power of culture in promoting democratic processes, encouraging social dialogue, and advancing societal change.
The overall objective of the Culture for Development project is to ensure that the independent, diverse and inclusive culture sector shapes and safeguards democratic values, promotes inclusive societal changes and strengthens social cohesion.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess grant applications from a financial perspective to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare documentation for grant disbursements, assist in compiling financial reports, and maintain organized records of financial transactions.
- Provide guidance and ongoing communication to grantees to strengthen their financial management capacity and ensure proper use of grant funds.
- Perform day-to-day administrative and operational tasks related to grants, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to project procedures.
- Assist in procurement procedures in line with project and donor requirements.
- Support the Financial Administrative Grant Officer in maintaining financial accuracy, reporting standards, and adherence to project, donor, and audit regulations.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
– At least 5 years of relevant continuous work experience in finance and administrative functions.
– Strong knowledge of financial rules, procedures, and regulations applicable to organizations operating under the legal framework of North Macedonia.
– Experience with donor-funded projects will be considered an added advantage.
– Familiarity with financial documentation, reporting standards, and donor compliance requirements.
– High level of integrity, strong result orientation, and drive for excellence, with the ability to take initiative.
– Good communication and interpersonal skills.
– Computer literacy, including proficiency in financial software and tools.
– Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written).
