Heartefact performed How I Learned to Drive on Saturday, May 9, 2026, as part of the International Small Scenes Festival in Rijeka, where the production won awards in five categories: Best Director (Tara Manić), Best Actor (Svetozar Cvetković), Best Young Actress (Marta Bogosavljević), Best Overall Performance, and the Audience Award.
Tara Manić directed the production based on Paula Vogel’s play, translated by Ivana Đurić Paunović and adapted by Vuk Bošković. The play explores memory and the reconstruction of a complex childhood relationship. Through the fragmented narration of an adult woman, it creates space to reflect on intimacy, trust, power, and boundaries within a relationship that holds both tenderness and violence, and whose full weight and complexity only become clear in retrospect.
In Rijeka, Svetozar Cvetković and Marta Bogosavljević performed the play in its intimate, focused stage form and built a precise, emotionally layered relationship.
Heartefact produced the play in March 2024 and premiered it at Heartefact House in Belgrade. The guest performance at the International Small Scenes Festival in Rijeka continues the production’s festival journey and its encounters with international audiences. The play remains part of Heartefact House’s regular repertoire.
