Institute
The Heartefact Institute is a programmatic pillar where knowledge is gathered, systematized, established, and shared. A key segment of our work is supporting research efforts and regional cooperation, with a special focus on topics integral to Heartefact’s mission, such as human rights and addressing historical legacies. We provide support and guidance to individuals eager to engage with these topics but who lack expertise, resources, or knowledge. To achieve these goals, we build partnerships at the national, regional, and European levels to embrace diverse perspectives, seeking new forms of collaboration while simultaneously strengthening existing ones.
The Institute provides a space for addressing the reality in whch we live through thoughtful and critical examination, and offer oportunities for learning based on intellectual humility and bravery, striving to design meaningful solutions for problems we identify in the society in ways that are both attainable and just. Since social problems we deal with are riddled with complexity and constraints, shaped by historical legacies, and consequential for individual’s liberties and rights, we believe that we need to address them through thoughtful and critical examination.
Reconnection
The Heartefact Reconnection program is dedicated to fostering understanding and cooperation between Serbian and Kosovo societies. Since the founding of Heartefact, efforts have been made through the Reconnection program to overcome differences and build sustainable connections despite political tensions and ethnic divisions. Over the past decade and a half, supporting the establishment of people-to-people connections has been a key segment of this program, which was achieved through various forms of visits, exchanges, and joint activities.
Human Rights Leadership
Through the Human Rights Leadership Program (HRL), which is being implemented from 2024 to 2026, Heartefact provides support to those advocating for the human rights of minority and marginalized groups in Serbia, thereby influencing their visibility and positive social change. Key activities include supporting individuals and organizations to engage in the field of human rights protection.
Fellowship
The Heartefact Fellowship program is dedicated to supporting individuals who are ready to initiate change in society by addressing pressing issues in their communities. The program provides a platform for participants from Serbia and the region to engage with topics such as human rights, dealing with the past, and regional cooperation.
