Heartefact Kosovo is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the first edition of Playground for Emerging Playwrights.
Playground for Emerging Playwrights is a mentorship-driven development program dedicated to supporting talented Albanian-language playwrights from Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania, through mentorship, collaborative workshops and a public staged reading for audience response.
The programme welcomes applications based on ideas for original dramatic texts that the applicant wishes to develop through a supported dramaturgical process. The program strengthens their creative practice by providing a structured environment for developing new dramatic texts, from initial idea to developed draft.
The program nurtures early-stage ideas, exploration of dramaturgical and thematic questions, encourages experimentation, dialogue with peers and mentors, and reflection on audience response. In addition, Playground offers regional fellowship opportunities to expand participants’ professional networks and visibility within the Western Balkans theatre landscape, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the growth of new and socially relevant dramatic writing.

The call is open to emerging playwrights from Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia working in the Albanian language. Applicants at early or mid-career stages are also welcome to apply.
