At the Frankfurt Book Fair, on October 19th at 7:30 PM, a book resulting from the work of participants in the international project “Poets of Today, Voices of Tomorrow” will be presented. The poetic collective composed of prominent poets from the organizations leading the project will introduce the audience to the book’s contents. The collective consists of poets Radmila Petrović (Serbia), Veronika Dintinjan (Slovenia), Małgożata Lebda (Poland), as well as poets Hari Hertel (Finland) and Marton Simon (Hungary). In Serbia, the project is led by Heartefact, with partners ARTeria from Poland, Pro Progressione from Hungary, the Association of Finnish Cultural Centers for Children, and Pionirski dom from Ljubljana as the coordinator. The project aims to revitalize contemporary poetry and young poets, as well as to integrate them and their poetry into the educational system through school curricula and workshops with students.
The book contains poems in the native languages of the poets from the collective, as well as translations into German. In addition to poems, the book offers insights into the educational components of the project, such as themes and techniques used by the authors involved in the project in creating and presenting poetry. One of the main outcomes of the project will be the development of new performative methods of poetry performance that will make poetry more accessible to young people.
In addition to Radmila Petrović, the Heartefact poetry team includes ten more young poets who will begin poetry visits to elementary and high schools in Serbia in November, working together with teachers to bring poetry closer to young people. The project “Poets of Today, Voices of Tomorrow” has already achieved significant results by initiating collaboration between the teaching and poetry teams and developing new performative techniques through workshops conducted by the artistic and poetry teams, culminating in an exceptional poetry performance in the Botanical Garden in Belgrade, which opened this year’s BELEF.
The project “Poets of Today, Voices of Tomorrow” will run until 2025 and is supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
