World Poetry Day was declared by UNESCO in 1999 to be on March 21st. Through panel discussions and programs realized with authors from Serbia and several European countries, the Cultural Center of Belgrade, Bitef Theater, and Heartefact organize a series of programs that highlight several aspects of “work in poetry.”
Poetry as an autonomous artistic expression and the consequent reader and market “measuring units” for such work in the contemporary moment, poetry as a means of production in other artistic disciplines, and poetry in its performative-expressive aspect as a separate form of work in the community are the themes of this year’s World Poetry Day 2023 event, which lasts from March 21st, 2023, to March 29th, 2023.
