Within the framework of the Culture for Democracy project, the Heartefact Foundation has supported five new organizations through the Art Boost Support grant line, with a total amount of 13,701,000 RSD.
The Art Boost Support Scheme represents assistance to initiatives and processes in the artistic and cultural sector ranging from experimental to strategic, from urgent to long-term. It is not necessarily focused solely on specific artistic projects but encourages innovation and imagination. The Culture for Democracy project remains committed to cultural and artistic projects that foster critical thinking about past and present social and political circumstances. Within the Art Boost Support Scheme, the geographical focus has been expanded to include not only national but also regional, cross-border initiatives that align with the goals and priorities of the Culture for Democracy project.
In January, support under this grant line was awarded to organizations from Belgrade and Užice for projects addressing the creation of the first artists’ cooperative in the region, improving working conditions in culture, formulating recommendations for enhancing cultural policies, decentralization, establishing the first village gallery, reexamining Yugoslav heritage through artistic practices, and creating a platform to empower contemporary poetry:
- ULUS (project: SHARED VISION – The First Artists Cooperative in the Western Balkans): 3,000,000 RSD
- Association Independent Cultural Scene (project: Independent art scene as a driver of social change): 3,000,000 RSD
- Association of Visual Artists Užice (The First Village Gallery of Contemporary Art – Cultural De-center Reflector): 2,880,000 RSD
- Simply Put (New Routes Of Cooperation): 2,440,000 RSD
- MM Baza (All of Us: Poetry knows): 2,381,000 RSD
The Culture for Democracy project aims to contribute to strengthening the independent cultural sector to foster greater social cohesion and tolerance at the local level. The first phase of the project runs from October 2021 to February 2025 and is supported by the Swiss Government with a grant of 1,945,000 euros, implemented by the Heartefact Foundation.
