Heartefact’s theater production “They Have Already Gone”, by Andrej Nosov, was awarded at the prestigious Ibsen Scope competition for 2022. In an intense competition with works from all over the world, the theatrical production from Serbia was chosen among the five best, and the play will be staged and performed at the Ibsen Festival in Norway.
A representative theater competition, “Ibsen Scope” relies on the legacy of the famous playwright, whose works serve as a starting point for dynamic and critical artistic discourses through innovative theater productions. At this year’s edition of the competition, out of 54 applications from thirty countries, Heartefact’s theatrical concept “They Have Already Gone” and Andrej Nosov was awarded as one of the five artists who will have the opportunity to realize their productions with a focus on contemporary social and political circumstances.
According to the jury, “They Have Already Gone” is a sharp and a deeply poetic dramatic concept that explores the issue of suffering, guilt and crime with the intention of penetrating the fundamental idea of theater in imagination – life versus death, human solidarity instead of limitations, and questioning responsibility for the death of those who are no longer here. The Ibsen Award Jury is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the realization of this important and challenging work at a time when understanding the consequences of war seems more important than ever.
