During Pride Week, Heartefact initiated and gathered in Belgrade the first five organizations and theaters involved in a new theater network that will bring together theaters, groups, and theater organizations that focus on minority perspectives, especially queer perspectives, in their work.
The participants of the first network conference discussed the prospects of development, future collaboration, joint projects, and exchanges, all with one goal: how to collectively create more space for minority themes and perspectives in theater at the European level and thereby support and empower artists who engage with them.
The first organizations to join the network alongside Heartefact are:
- Scensverige- Swedish Performing Arts Coalition,
- Nomantinels from Slovakia,
- Wiener Wortstaetten from Austria,
- Istrian National Theater – City Theater Pula from Croatia
Residencies for artists, text exchanges, performances, and work methods exchanges, continuous meetings, and learning from each other are just some of the future network plans, and membership is open to all interested parties who want to use theater to raise awareness about minority issues, problems, and perspectives.
The formation and gathering of the network were realized with the support of the Swedish Institute through the Creative Partnership program. #SICreativePartnerships”
