A partners’ meeting for the Eclectic of Otherness project, co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program, was held this weekend in Zagreb.
Representatives of the three organizations – Heartefact from Serbia, Arterarij from Croatia, and El Vaiven from France – gathered for a two-day program to review the activities completed so far and discuss future plans. All organizations have already finished the research phases for their upcoming performances and will soon begin rehearsals. By the end of 2024, three co-productions will premiere, focusing on a deeper understanding of the term “others” and the perspective of “otherness.” During the Festival of Otherness in all three partner cities – Belgrade, Zagreb, and Paris – all three performances will be showcased.
EoO is dedicated to exploring identity tensions between “us” and “them,” insiders and outsiders, those we think belong, and those who are excluded from that privilege. By dissecting identity as an intimate zone of conflict that is both microscopic and personal, as well as global and public, EoO uncovers and acknowledges the challenges faced by the unknown, foreigners, outsiders, immigrants, newcomers, and refugees on their difficult journeys to safety and freedom. It also highlights the challenges they encounter in navigating new lives and identities.
The project coordinator is the Heartefact Fund, and the project runs from February 2023 to January 2025. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
