After two years of artistic research as part of the Eclectic of Otherness project co-financed by the European Union, we are proud to announce the “Festivity of Otherness“, a unique theatrical experience that will confront the audience with three poignant stories and reflections on the human experience, as well as personal stories that shape our world. The Festivity of Otherness is much more than a theater festival – it is an invitation to think, to face the invisible and the unspoken.
Eclectic of Otherness is a partnership initiative of three cultural organizations: Heartefact from Serbia, Arterarij from Croatia and El Vaïvén from France, and is dedicated to exploring identity tensions between Us and Them, insiders and outsiders, those we think belong to, and those who don’t part of that privilege. EoO reveals and honors the problems unknowns, strangers, outsiders, immigrants, newcomers, and refugees face on the difficult paths to safety and freedom and presents the challenges they face in navigating new lives and identities.
The Festivity of Otherness has already been organized in Zagreb in November, and after Belgrade it will be realized in January in Paris. The project is accompanied by a campaign Mozaic of Otherness that focuses on European workers in art and culture, offering their testimonies about what it’s like to be a “stranger” or “other” in a certain context.
From Thursday to Saturday, the audience will have the opportunity to see the performance of exceptional art projects that, through engaged theater, open up space for common understanding, empathy and reflection and open important topics that rarely get enough attention.
