New production of Heartefact Fund called “Intimacy”, premiered on the 71st edition of Dubrovnik Summer Festival. “Intimacy”, written by Biljana Srbljanović and directed by Andrej Nosov was staged at Lazareti.
Actors Leon Lučev i Jelena Graovac performed a play that addresses one of the most pressing issues of our society – new and unknown virus. “Intimacy” was developed with the idea to focus and explore are realitions to the “Other” in these new circumstances. Play tries to question life with others, do we and on what terms care for the other in these special conditions created by periods of (self)isolation. Leon Lučev i Jelena Graovac, through many short stories about distance, discipline, privacy and new relations that were created, are trying to show what intimacy is today.
Andrej Nosov, director:
„Work on this performance is coloured with fear that some of us will get infected and sick but also the belief that despite the measures of distancing and isolating theatre can be created and produced. It’s an immense pleasure to work with Jelena Graovac and Leon Lučev, we have the privilege of creating in an isolated place, exploring, building and searching for solutions on how to make this performance great and special.
„I saw a young man, he was wearing a mask. Means he worries for someone. That is nice.”
These are a few lines from our play. Care, gentility and possibility to preserve intimacy, human relations and humanity in spite of everything. “
Biljana Srbljanović, dramaturg:
“New, unknown and terrifying virus, although expected, found the world totally unprepared. Quarantine, isolation, infection and dying is nothing new in the history of drama literature, but in a modern world which is incapable of solitude, it became almost equally difficult to be sick and protected. Two actors, through a series of short stories, are creating a picture of the world we are witnessing and creating the paradigm of social relations, without even being aware of it . ”
Alongside Heartefact, which is a lead partner of the Creative Europe supported project “Future Epics”, partners involved in the implementation are Dubrovnik Summer Festival, TASCA and Vitylike PAC.
