Fourth HFestival Announcement

The 4th HFestival starts on Monday, December 11, at 8 pm on Dorćol Square with the premiere performance of guest performances from Zagreb, “LOOKATME” by Roman Nikolić in the production of “Arterarija”.

The play “LOOKATME” was created as a story about events from the lives of two theater enthusiasts who boldly accepted the challenge by exposing their / our identities to the views of the theater audience. In the structure of the play, the performers travel between the public and the private – reciting / repeating their own stories that seem to no longer be theirs. Although the stories they have chosen seem at first glance small, unimportant and common life situations, each one is actually filled with horrific violence. With this procedure, the performers want to awaken the viewer who, together with them, walks between different realities.

This year’s focus of the HFestival will be directed towards independent theater productions, so in the coming days the audience will be able to see another Zagreb production of “Lampedusa Beach” by Lina Prosa, directed by Senka Bulić and produced by Hotel Bulić Theater, as well as Heartefact’s new play “JuliJA” by Mirjana Karanović. will be played on December 12th and 13th at 8 pm at the Bitef Theater.

The play “Lampedusa Beach”, the first performance of the Italian author Line Prose in our country, was written in 2004 and is the first part of a trilogy about a shipwreck, which, in addition to it, consists of the texts “Lampedusa Show” and “Lampedusa Vai”.

The play follows the sinking of a ship crowded with refugees on its way from an unnamed African country to the shores of a European resort as a place of refuge and the beginning of dreams come true. In a long poetic monologue, the protagonist Schauba talks about preparations, hopes, travel, shipwreck and her death.

Mirjana Karanović’s author’s project “Julia” is a contemporary reading of Strindberg’s play “Miss Julia”, which raises the question of where she is and what she is doing today? In that sense, the author offers a different and, in some segments, very personal answer to it.

“Walking on the edge of memory, Miss Julia re-examines the role she has played in her life so far. More than a century has passed from one Julia to another, but she remains the first and last link in the vicious circle of imposed rules and expected outcomes,” the author’s review states.

This year’s festival was supported by the Embassy of Switzerland, the Italian Institute of Culture and the Municipality of Vracar with the technical support of Dorcol Platz and Bitef Theater.

Tickets for all performances within the HFestival can be sold at the Bitef Theater box office and through Eventim Serbia.
