Youth for the Future – Kulturni sklop

Project description: Through numerous activities of this project, the organization has included young people in the cultural life of the city and attracted a new audience. Art workshops were held for preschoolers and lower elementary school children, led by Kristina Drašković Bočkov. Two introductory research workshops for young people were also held, the first of which saw participants watch a documentary about the “Mladost” factory and examine their awareness of the industrial heritage of Požega, and the second of which saw them visit the Homeland Department of the National Library in Požega, where they were introduced to the city’s archival materials. The workshop was led by Slađana Petrović Varagić and the Homeland Department librarian Jasna Lalović Đurić.

The video works of older workshop participants are an important part of the multimedia concert with contemporary art music. The multimedia concert ““Mixtures of Time”” was held in the Hall of the Požega Railway Station, and the concert program was designed especially for this event based on the idea of three musicians: Marija Kandić, Lana Jelenković and Igor Jovanović of LEZET, in collaboration with the visual artist Vojislav Nedeljković. The concert was conceived as an interaction of music and visual art, and the Požega Railway Station Hall, as a concert hall with a backdrop of railway tracks and trains, encouraged the audience to view the space through which people often just pass, not paying attention to the fact that it is part of our sense of belonging to our hometown, in a completely new way. The “Maps of Collective Labor” program aimed to guide the participants to a map of the most important factories in Požega. One of the tasks was to ask around in the family and in the neighborhood who worked in those factories and to collect their experiences and opinions. Through conversations, they began to learn about some basic ideas of collective labor and socialism, as well as to discuss these topics critically. The “Forest as a Collective” program was conceived to encourage participants from the first to fourth grades of primary school to think about their place in the family, class, and nature. The final exhibition of works from all art workshops, as well as video documentation from the multimedia concert, was held at the GASI premises in Požega. Additional body music and clapping workshop for children aged 5-10 “Artritmik”:
