Regio Earth 2024 – Fine Crafts Club (KFZ)

Project description: The Fine Crafts Club in Mošorin has been engaged in the renovation of earthen houses, training and education in the field of earthen architecture for more than a decade, and the LALA Earthland festival offers a series of educational programs by experts on working with natural materials. The goal of the LALA festival is to offer children in small communities healthy and quality events, and to introduce children from cities and professionals who work with children to the possibilities of working with natural materials in urban areas.

The Regio Earth festival, which has been organized for 7 years and whose founders are from Romania, Hungary and Serbia, has chosen the Almaški kraj and Svilara in Novi Sad as the cultural points where this edition of the festival will be realized. The original and unforgettable Kibic walk through the Almaški kraj began the multi-day stay of a group of architects and artists from all over the world gathered within the Regio Earth project in the Almaški kraj. Students of Stage Architecture with Tanja Babić and Aleksandra Pešterac designed the walk, made kibicers (windows) and at 6 pm in front of Svilara took guests on a KIBIC walk, through which they heard the story of the Almaški kraj that no longer exists, through crafts, pigeon racing, culture and art. This walk was later chosen as one of the projects presented at the BETA – Biennial of Architecture in Timisoara. They also presented the young artist Marija Kozomora, who delighted the guests with her ecoprint art. The festival began with a conference at the SCEN lab at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, where earthen architecture was presented from the perspective of numerous guest lecturers. Alina Negru from Romania & Alessandro Serra from Italy spoke about Alternative Educational Spaces – Urban Gardens of Timisoara, while Adam Bihari introduced us to modern construction with natural materials in Hungary. There was talk about the Charge in Modern Construction, which was spoken about by Tommaso Venturini, about Unbaked Earth in the artwork of Mathilde Beguin, as well as about the Beauty of Spaces Made of Earth, which we learned from Isabella Breda. There was also talk about the Earthen Heritage of Colombia and the Ibero-American network Proterra and Earth as a tool for work. The program also included a one-day ECVET training for building with earth, so that interested participants could get acquainted with earth as a material, and then take an exam and receive a certificate in non-formal education for building with earth. The participants of the URBAN workshops had 3 workshops in the city and one in Mosorin. They learned to make adobe benches in workshops, as well as decorative mud plaster workshops in Mošorin… The festival was attended by over 25 trainers, 40 participants from 22 countries, and many visitors joined the walk and evening events.
