Job shadowing – Center for the Development of Circus Arts Ludifico

Project description: Ludifico hired intern Marija Varga to train her in the realization of a circus performance and also the first edition of the Circus Danas Festival. This was an opportunity for the intern to learn about some of the specifics of setting up circus performances that are not taught at the university. During this program, she also had the opportunity to see what it looks like to create a new circus performance within the art laboratory, and how to host finished foreign performances. As part of the Circus Laboratory in cooperation with the organization Cirkusfera from Belgrade, Marija had the opportunity to visit the circus tent, and there, with her mentor, she learned many things and specifics of this mobile independent performance space adapted to circus art.

With her mentor, she went through the entire process from beginning to end, how the festival is realized, how the space is negotiated, how the artists are negotiated, how impossible requests from the rider list are resolved, and how the finished performances are adapted to the space. In addition, she was trained in how to conduct promotional activities, including designing and producing the festival’s introductory video performance…

During the training, Marija participated in numerous programs, some of which were the Circus Today Festival, the Artistic Residency of the international cooperation project Beta Circus, the Artistic Residencies Il circo nello spazio, the Days of the French Circus – this was realized in September and October during the internship model, the Circus Laboratory within the Circus = Art project and others…

Marija turned out to be a person that Ludifico would like to keep in his team or at least occasionally hire for festivals or specific performances, so this internship proved to be very successful for both parties.
