Project Description: “Invisible Creators of Magic” is a multimedia and educational project that focuses on research, education, and promotion of stage design as an essential segment of art and culture. Although formal education covers the field of stage design, there is a lack of informal educational, interactive, and multimedia formats that promote this area of art and culture. Nevertheless, for decades, the practice has been established that dedicated theater professionals, with significant experience in disappearing crafts and professions, lead and are engaged in theater institutions, primarily in technical services. Through this support, an educational program is implemented involving children, youth, and young professionals in the field of stage design. The first part of the educational program is designed for children, aiming to introduce them to the world of theater and art, while the second part is aimed at high school students and young people to guide them into various invisible theater professions. In addition to the educational program, a series called “Creators of Magic” has been produced during the project. This series consists of 8 short documentary video episodes that showcase the “invisible” people creating in the theater. The series records, preserves, and promotes the crafts, skills, and individuals that constitute the theater organism. Through about ten workshops, children and youth were educated and informed about the professions that form the foundation of stage design, bringing them closer to the invisible theater crafts. The project was recognized and invited to be part of the Biennial of Stage Design within the European Capital of Culture in Novi Sad. The series is just the first in a series of planned activities for further promoting these crafts beyond the end of the support period.
