Project description: The “Cinema on Tour” project was an extremely successful initiative that contributed to the cultural and social development of local communities, encouraging dialogue, exchange of ideas and strengthening ties between residents. During the implementation period of the “Cinema on Tour” project, various cultural events were organized in several ethnic villages in Preševo and Bujanovac. To begin with, screenings of films were organized in six different villages, some of which were domestic productions, while others were documentaries on important topics such as environmental protection, social issues and the impact of social media on young people. The screenings were open to the public, which contributed to the involvement of as many people from the community as possible. Specifically, in the village of Lucane in the municipality of Bujanovac, the screening of the film “The Other Side of the Street” explored the problem of peer violence, which encouraged the local community to think about this important social issue. On the other hand, in the village of Zujince in Preševo, the screening of the film “Nellys Story” encouraged a conversation about the impact of social networks on young people and the importance of responsible internet use.
The project also provided an inclusive environment in which different ethnic groups had the opportunity to enjoy cultural events together, for example, in the village of Bustranje, the local population enjoyed the screening of the film “Prishtine 2002”, which contributed to strengthening interethnic tolerance and understanding.
Educational lectures were also held, covering topics such as film production, the history of local landmarks, and nature protection, and tree planting and environmental cleaning were organized in the village of Crnčnice, which contributed to raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection among the local population. The Director of the Tourist Organization gave a lecture on the tourism potential of the region in the village of Lucane and drew the attention of the local population to think about the possibilities for tourism development and economic prosperity in their environment.
