My name is Vasil Vid Pašanjski (29) from Belgrade. I graduated from the Traffic-Technical School in Zemun and enrolled in retraining at the Hospitality and Tourism School in Belgrade. Since high school, I have been involved in volunteer work, and in 2019, I began activism in the field of human rights and equality for the transgender community. In collaboration with Belgrade Pride, I organized education programs on transgender rights and Trans Visibility Week. I was a member of the organization Talas TIRV and volunteered for several other organizations. I am particularly proud of my participation in Aleksandar Crnogorac’s photo monograph, Trans Balkan, and Linda Bournane Engelberth’s project Outside the Binary, where I represented non-binary individuals from Serbia. I am also an independent artist. In the future, I aim to establish an organization focused on educating about transgender issues and the challenges faced by the community. I plan to advocate and raise awareness within state institutions about these problems and offer solutions. I believe that having only one endocrinologist in a hospital is inadequate, as it cannot provide proper treatment to all patients, including those with diabetes, gland-related diseases, and transgender individuals. Through Heartefact’s project, I aim to highlight this issue to relevant institutions at the Ministry of Health and non-governmental organizations so that everyone is aware of the challenges transgender individuals face within the healthcare system. Additionally, I would address the issue of city accessibility for people with disabilities.
