Miljan Rašić

My name is Miljan Rašić (41) from Zaječar. I work as an event organizer at the National Theater of the Timok Region – Zoran Radmilović Cultural Center. I am also an activist dedicated to the protection of human rights. I was born in Zaječar, where I completed high school, with a degree as a computer control technician. My professional career also includes serving as the president of the Roma Society of Zaječar and my involvement in the Alliance Against Discrimination, where I have been a member since its founding. Over the years of working within and outside the community, my special focus and interest have been on the protection of Roma community rights. My work is also directed at preventing antisocial attitudes and reducing stereotypes. As the organizer of numerous trainings and educational programs on anti-Romani sentiment, I have been recognized for my contribution to raising awareness of human rights and inclusion. I am particularly proud of the collaboration with the Secondary School Center in Zaječar, where final-year students, in cooperation with us, organized several panel discussions on the inclusion of the Roma community. What I want to focus on and elevate to a higher level in my future work is the fight against anti-Romani sentiment and advocating for greater social change through education and dialogue, which makes this issue crucial in the process of social integration and the fight for equality.
