Ljiljana Todorović Jovanović

My name is Ljiljana Todorović Jovanović (42). I live in Požarevac, where I work at a private biochemical laboratory as a medical laboratory technician. I completed elementary school in Golubac and high school in Belgrade. I obtained diplomas as a sanitary-ecological engineer and a medical laboratory technician from the Higher Health and Sanitary School Visan and the Higher School of Vocational Studies in Belgrade. My activist work is in its infancy. As an amateur photographer, during 2023, I was involved in the implementation of the 16 Women project as part of the global campaign 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Activist topics that particularly interest me are gender equality, combating violence against women and femicide, as well as feminist peace activism. In Požarevac, as well as in the broader Braničevo district, there are no organizations or activist circles engaged in the feminist field. My idea is for the Heartefact program to serve as an opportunity for networking and as a starting point for activist engagement. My wish is to establish an association of citizens with the aim of mobilizing women from the local community who share similar views. I would like to work on creating a society that is safe for women, but also a society in which women actively participate. The idea is for the association to be a resource center for women facing problems of violence and gender inequality, as well as a place where they can receive advisory assistance and guidance towards institutions and organizations that can provide them with protection and rights enforcement. I firmly believe that there are many women in our society who want to change and improve it, and that it is important to take action and be an example and an inspiration.
