My name is Isidora Radmanović (47). I hold a Law degree and am a mother of four, and I live in Novi Sad. For more than five years, I have been actively working to advance human rights within the Serbian education system. My engagement began in 2020 after returning from the United States, when I was directly confronted with numerous structural weaknesses in schools, including a lack of transparency, violations of parental rights, and limited access to quality education. I run a Viber community titled “Parents Supporting Education and Students”, which has over 4,000 members. Since 2021, I have been actively involved in parents’ councils, first as a member, then as President of the Parents’ Council at Primary School “Jožef Atila”, and subsequently as President of the Novi Sad City Parents’ Council, a body bringing together representatives from 50 schools. During my mandate, I led initiatives focused on protecting the rights of children and parents, building partnerships between schools and local communities, and strengthening parental participation as a tool for democratizing the school environment. Through my volunteer work, I developed a network of committed parents and organized numerous public events, educational workshops, and campaigns, including the protest “Education with Integrity”. I strongly believe that education is one of the key pillars of a democratic society, and that the struggle for human rights in schools directly impacts the quality of education and, consequently, the quality of life of the entire community. I see the HRL Program as an opportunity for professional development, leadership strengthening, and the establishment of a parents’ association operating at the national level.
