My name is Dragana Vasilijević-Valent (36), and I am based in Belgrade. I am a foreign language teacher and a teacher trainer specializing in digital skills. I began my career in higher education, where I worked for eight years, before transitioning into non-formal education. I first completed a teacher trainer certification at the University of Sheffield, after which I started delivering workshops for young people in collaboration with several non-governmental organizations in Serbia and abroad, focusing on digital skills, youth entrepreneurship, and mental health. In addition, since 2019 I have been running an Instagram-based professional community for teachers called Dragana Pro. As an activist, my primary areas of interest are women’s empowerment, inclusion, and reconciliation in the region. Two years ago, together with two colleagues, I co-founded the association Open Educational Vibes, with the aim of providing young people with new opportunities in education and (self-)employment through digital skills, with a particular focus on inclusion. I applied to the HRL Program with the intention of strengthening my capacity as an activist, learning how to design and implement projects within the local community, and expanding my support network. The project I plan to continue developing focuses on the prevention of digital violence.
