My name is Anja Sinadinović (33) from Belgrade. I am a social worker and a trainee in systemic family psychotherapy. I have worked in various NGOs – Liceulice (vendor coordinator), Center Zvezda (youth care worker for young people without parental care), and Adra (career counselor for members of the Roma community). Through my work I have recognized a strong need for tailored support for members of the LGBT+ community, to which I also belong. Above all, I have noticed a major gap in housing services – LGBT+ individuals who, due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, become victims of abuse and therefore face the risk of homelessness have no systemic support available to them. That is why, together with three colleagues and friends, I founded the organization Krilo (Wing), with the goal of establishing the first safe house for LGBT+ individuals in Serbia. Through Krilo, we aim to provide not only a safe roof over their heads but also other forms of tailored support, including psychological, legal, as well as educational and employment support. By participating in the HRL Program, I would like to develop my skills in campaigning and advocacy on this topic, as well as further develop a support network, as these are some of the key elements needed to bring this idea to life.
