My name is Ana Aćimov (38) from Bečej. As a journalist and youth worker, I have extensive experience in human rights, gender equality, and community development. I am active in the Bečej Youth Association, where I coordinate programs on information, participation, and public advocacy, and I work with the Humanitarian Association “Đina” from Bačko Gradište, which empowers women and girls from marginalized communities. In my work, I focus on advancing social and economic rights, with particular emphasis on dignified work, equitable distribution of unpaid care work, economic empowerment of women, especially those from minority communities, adequate housing, and preventing obstetric violence and discrimination in social and healthcare systems. Creative activism and public performances are central to my work – through these approaches, I encourage women, girls, and systemically marginalized communities to express their experiences, explore new forms of expression, and engage in social change. Through participation in the HRL Program, I aim to further develop my advocacy skills, expand my network of support, and gain new knowledge on using art and creative approaches to empower communities, helping women and marginalized groups to express themselves and actively contribute to social transformation.
