Project description: IRIDA has many years of experience working with young people and providing education on gender-based violence. This project emerged from that experience and resulted in a book of short stories on the topic of gender-based violence, written by young authors. This Is Also Violence is intended for young people who want to better understand the forms of gender-based violence that are difficult to recognise and who wish to take action on this issue.
Previously, IRIDA entrusted the editing process of these stories to an external expert who communicated with the authors, many of whom wrote about sensitive topics, often based on personal experiences. This process sometimes resulted in misunderstandings during proofreading and while making necessary changes to the original stories. Therefore, the need arose to transfer all expert knowledge and skills to IRIDA in order to independently manage the entire editing process and prepare manuscripts for publication. This has not only facilitated communication with authors, as the organisation is now able to manage the entire process independently, but has also resulted in significant financial savings. Considering IRIDA’s long-term plan to publish a series of collections dedicated to different forms of gender-based violence, these newly acquired knowledge and skills will contribute to the organisation’s more independent work in the future.
