Nađa Bobičić

Nađa Bobičić is a Research Associate at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. She received her PhD with a thesis on Yugoslav socialist feminism from 1975 to 1990. Recently, she was a member of several research projects concerning unpaid housework, the position of women cultural workers in Serbia, and countering gender backlash in Serbia and Montenegro. Nađa is also a cofounder of the organisation Rebel Readers that nurtures feminism in literature and literary critique. Nađa’s research highlights the remarkable cooperation between women in Kosovo and Serbia during two pivotal periods: World War II and the 1998-1999 war. Her goal was to challenge dominant war narratives, which often prioritise male figures, by bringing to light stories of women’s resistance, collaboration, and peace initiatives that have been systematically erased from the collective memory of both Serbian and Kosovo societies. Through a comparative analysis of archival printed media, Nađa sought to recover these forgotten narratives. Her research showed that the role of women and activists proves to be crucial in the attempt to establish trust and foster relationships that will benefit all communities in Serbia and Kosovo. In her research, Nađa concludes that women’s and feminist organisations in these two countries have an almost century-long history of cooperation. Additionally, Nađa has produced three podcast episodes to share her research findings.
