Project description: Since the organization Art Aparat engages in specific work, much of which is based on involving vulnerable groups, particularly the Roma community, the skills and knowledge required from ideal candidates for future permanent engagement within the organization are specialized and often outside the scope of traditional education. The job shadowing program, as part of this support, represented an exceptional opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and skills between the intern, Jasmina Ristić, and the Art Aparat association. During the program, Jasmina gained important knowledge about methodologies for empowering Roma men and women through music, which is central to Art Aparat’s work. She was also a member of the Svi UGLAS choir during her job shadowing, participated in rehearsals, and later had the opportunity to understand and describe her experiences in mentoring sessions. Through practical workshops, Jasmina Ristić learned how to adapt to the individual needs and interests of Roma children, which is crucial for effectively managing support programs in such a specific environment. Additionally, Jasmina developed skills in designing workshops that integrate a musical approach to achieve more comprehensive learning goals. On the other hand, Jasmina brought new knowledge and experience to Art Aparat as a person from the Roma community, enriching the team’s perspectives and approaches in better understanding the issues faced by the Roma community. Since Jasmina herself comes from a non-privileged background and has succeeded in achieving results in education and work despite obstacles, she was able to effectively share her knowledge about the community’s problems, which was highly valuable to the organization’s members. The job shadowing improved the capacities of both parties and contributed to the further development of support programs for Roma children and the broader community. Art Aparat will continue to offer mentorship to Jasmina Ristić, enabling her to further develop her skills and knowledge, which includes participating in future association projects, organizing educational events, or working on new creative initiatives.
