Tatjana Jovičić

My name is Tatjana Jovičić (44). I was born and raised in Belgrade, but now I live and work in Loznica. I am a journalist by profession and hold a degree in marketing management. As a member of the Association of Journalists of Serbia, I have spent the past 10 years working at RTV Podrinje in various roles, from editing news and cultural programs to managing web platforms and social media. Additionally, I serve as the president of the association Word and Act (Serbian: Reč i Delo), which I founded in 2014. I edit the portals Azbučnik and Podrinje.rs, focusing on promoting culture, social issues, healthy lifestyles, and current events in the Podrinje region. Through my work in the media and my leadership at Word and Act, I actively advocate for human rights, combat violence against women, and empower youth. Many of our projects are realized in collaboration with the Youth Office in Loznica. Over the years, my activism has centered on the challenges women, particularly those in rural areas, face in their daily lives. Projects like Get Moving and You Are Not Alone have aimed to raise awareness about violence against women and empower them to overcome the stigma and fear of reporting such violence. These media campaigns have also focused on educating the public about various forms of violence and the importance of solidarity with victims. The significant increase in domestic violence and femicides during the pandemic has prompted me to focus specifically on these issues in my future work. Through Heartefact’s project, I plan to organize a series of workshops for women in rural areas. These workshops will aim to enhance their knowledge and skills for economic empowerment, encouraging them to improve their financial status and achieve independence in making decisions about their lives. By providing support and tools for these women, I hope to foster a sense of empowerment and enable them to break free from cycles of violence and dependency.
