Project Description: The International Student Film Camp “Interaction” has been regularly organized since 2006 in the Western Serbia region (Užice, Čačak, Požega…). Numerous young individuals from the area, who started as volunteers at the camp and later participated in Interaction’s workshops, have subsequently enrolled in film academies, continuing their journey towards becoming film professionals. Many of them are still actively involved in coordinating the camp today, contributing to the decentralization of culture and greater involvement of local capacities.
With the support of “Interaction,” it was made possible to develop a new three-part program through collaborative partnerships: the International Student Film Camp “Interaction,” where film school students participate, resulting in the creation of three short documentaries; the International Festival of Short Documentary Films “Interaction,” showcasing around thirty short documentaries; and the International Documentary Film Workshop “Interaction,” offering education in the field of documentary filmmaking for young film authors.
The trend of concentrating international film projects in major capitals, combined with the practice of rarely producing film projects in the interior of Serbia despite the existence of human and logistical capacities, further contributes to the centralization not only of audiences but also of creators locally. By supporting the “Interaction” project, the decentralization of film projects was achieved, the film creativity of young authors was affirmed, student exchanges and the production of three documentary films were facilitated, and a total of 26 short documentary films were screened.
