This environment often discourages cultural engagement, community cohesion, critical dialogue, and diversity, contributing instead to indifference and apathy. Young people, particularly high school and university students, are among those most affected, as their opportunities to attend cultural events in the city centre are frequently constrained by logistical and financial barriers, including transportation and economic dependence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project Book Headquarters was conceived as a response to the absence of literary events in suburban and rural areas, as well as to the excessive centralization of this segment of contemporary cultural production. Throughout the project, Barajevo hosted literary events featuring prominent contemporary authors, including Radmila Petrovi\u0107, Ana Vu\u010dkovi\u0107, Olivera Miti\u0107, and Na\u0111a Petrovi\u0107. The programme also included reading workshops and presentations by independent publishing houses. The strong audience response confirmed the need for and interest in literary programmes and cultural events within the local community, as well as the importance of creating spaces where people can gather and exchange views on literature, culture, and issues affecting everyday life in Barajevo. Particularly encouraging was the participation of a large number of young people, especially those with less developed reading habits. For many of them, this was the first time they had attended a cultural event in their own community. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this project, Zvezdobroj also contributed to the visibility and recognition of emerging women writers. All participating authors were young women whose literary work addresses gender issues from diverse perspectives, as well as the challenges faced by younger generations.
