Belgrade Pride Week was opened last night, in front of a large audience on the stage “Rasa Palaovic”, by the play by Polish author Shimon Adamcek “An Ongoing Song”, as part of Heartefact’s Pride Theater Festival.

“An Ongoing Song” deals with HIV issues, which, as the organizers point out, was of special importance for this year’s festival, whose thematic framework is manipulation. Author Szymon Adamczak boldly talks about his experience, offering the audience one of the possible perspectives for coexistence with HIV.

“The freedom of movement of queer people is one of the many goals for our community. We continue to walk for basic freedoms and equality, and we are not even halfway there. We do not ask for equality – we demand it. We need it! When do we want it? IMMEDIATELY! The law is changing, our humanity remains. We must ensure the right to join trade unions and be equally recognized before the law, both in Serbia and in Poland. It is our civil right to be respected and visible in the workplace, in schools and in the healthcare system, “said Szymon Adamczak in the letter that opened the festival week.

Pride Week runs from September 12-19, and will feature over 40 events, including plays, film screenings, panel discussions, conferences, workshops, parties and other artistic, cultural and educational programs.
