{"id":24687,"date":"2025-12-11T12:13:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T12:13:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/heartefact.org\/heartefact-s-play-they-are-all-gone-directed-by-andrej-nosov-premieres-in-new-york\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T12:20:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T12:20:50","slug":"heartefact-s-play-they-are-all-gone-directed-by-andrej-nosov-premieres-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heartefact.org\/en\/heartefact-s-play-they-are-all-gone-directed-by-andrej-nosov-premieres-in-new-york\/","title":{"rendered":"Heartefact\u2019s Play \u201cThey Are All Gone\u201d Directed by Andrej Nosov Premieres in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After its Belgrade premiere in May this year at the Heartefact House and its Sarajevo premiere in November at the Sarajevo War Theatre SARTR, the play \u201c<strong>They Are All Gone<\/strong>\u201d, written by Doruntina Basha and directed by Andrej Nosov, had its New York premiere from <strong>December 4 to 7<\/strong>, 2025 \u2014 with as many as five performances.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the first edition of the festival <em data-start=\"531\" data-end=\"554\"><strong>From the Other Side<\/strong><\/em>, organized by the iconic New York theatre <strong>La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club<\/strong> and the organization <strong>My Balkans<\/strong>, our play was performed on the stage of the Ellen Stewart Theatre by Mirjana Karanovi\u0107, Svetozar Cvetkovi\u0107, Alban Ukaj, and others. Structured into four segments, the program offered audiences and professionals a curated cross-section of Balkan theatre through productions, public readings, and panel discussions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>At the heart of our program is the desire to create space for voices that have long been forgotten or intentionally ignored \u2014 a reminder that we are all part of a shared global struggle. Even when they are not in the spotlight, artists from the Balkans speak truths that resonate far beyond their borders,<\/em>\u201d said the organizers of the festival\u2019s first edition, which was formally opened by Heartefact\u2019s production.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The play \u201cThey Are All Gone\u201d artistically examines and seeks to understand the fates and consequences of the wars in the former Yugoslavia. It approaches the traumas of the past through an intimate lens, attempting to open a door into the inner world of the victims \u2014 those who survived, their memories, their unfulfilled desires, and their fear of being forgotten. Andrej Nosov\u2019s direction subtly and thoughtfully blends psychologically evocative performances by actors physically present on stage with a significant directorial use of audio-dramatic expression. For his direction of the play, Andrej Nosov received the \u201cLjubomir Muci Dra\u0161ki\u0107\u201d Best Director Award earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>In modern theatre, we easily imagine knights, kings, and heroes, but very rarely the ordinary, small lives whose deaths we bear responsibility for \u2014 or who were our contemporaries, living at the same moment as we did, burdened by the same anxieties and fears for the future. In the Balkans, we\u2019ve been listening to the same voices for decades \u2014 those who hate, who spread fear, and who deepen the consequences of a war that ended thirty years ago,<\/em>\u201d said Andrej Nosov, who, together with Mirjana Karanovi\u0107, Beka Vu\u010do, Natasha Tripney, and others, took part in the opening panel \u201cArt and\/or\/is Politics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Balkan artistic expression, the organizers concluded, is a space of new, vital, and \u2014 we believe \u2014 entirely relevant theatrical reality. The play will be performed in Belgrade from <strong>December 23 to 25 at the Heartefact House<\/strong>.
