On Sunday, July 6, a public presentation of the play Doughnuts <\/em><\/strong>(Buhtle)<\/em> was held at Heartefact House, marking the conclusion of the four-day Playground for New Voices<\/strong> workshop. The workshop took place within the European project Fabulamundi: New Voices, which Heartefact implements with partners from nine European countries. It was led by director and playwright Patrik Lazi\u0107<\/strong>, in collaboration with emerging playwright Jelena Krd\u017eavac<\/strong>, the acting ensemble, and translator Olja Petroni\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

During the presentation, the team showcased the text they had been intensively developing over the previous days. This was followed by a feedback session with the audience, offering valuable insights into the themes, potential, and directions for further development of this contemporary play.<\/p>\n\n

Doughnuts (Buhtle) tells the story of conjoined twin brothers, through whose relationship Jelena Krd\u017eavac explores the socio-political landscape of Serbia over the past three decades. Throughout the workshop, participants examined possibilities for staging the text beyond the bounds of realism, deepened the characters and their relationships, and collectively explored the questions and perspectives the text opens up. Working with the translator, the team also explored the potential for making the play resonant and relevant beyond the Serbian context.<\/p>\n\n

Workshop participants included actors Andrej Nje\u017ei\u0107, Amar \u0106orovi\u0107, Jana Bjelica, Dragana Varagi\u0107, and Aleksandar \u0110in\u0111i\u0107.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

After the successful completion of the workshop, Jelena Krd\u017eavac continues developing the play, with the hope that Buhtle will soon come to life on a theatre stage. At the same time, Heartefact continues to develop the Playground model, which has proven to be a highly valuable tool for supporting emerging dramatic voices.<\/p>\n\n

The workshop was held as part of the Fabulamundi \u2013 New Voices project, co-funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme.
