This month, Heartefact House is celebrating its one-year anniversary, and on this occasion, it has prepared numerous surprises for the audience and followers on social media as a token of gratitude for the trust and support shown. The unique theater space, located in a salon apartment in the heart of the city, has brought together and connected artists around the idea of socially engaged art. In just one year, Heartefact House has hosted 5 premieres, 80 performances, and the shows have been seen by over 5000 audience members in Belgrade, as well as audiences during tours in Dublin, Timișoara, Zagreb, Banja Luka, Pristina, and Novi Sad, with notable reviews in European magazines and websites.

Over 80 contemporary artists have collaborated with the House during this past year, and some of the most significant regional artists have been given the opportunity to showcase their original projects. These include names such as Patrik Lazić, Ivor Martinić, Jug Đorđević, Tijana Grumić, Andrej Nosov, and many more.

Jasna Đuričić, the leading actress of Serbian theater, together with Milica Stefanović, is performing in the longest-running production of Heartefact called “Prst” (The Finger), which recently returned to the stage of Heartefact House. After the first performance in this venue, Jasna Đuričić stated: “I am thrilled with this space; it is something I have always dreamed of and continue to dream about. I have been in this profession for a long time, with thirty years of life and professional experience. Perhaps when I was young, it was important for me to have 500 or 600 people in the audience, but now my perception of theater is different. When I contemplate theater now, it is precisely about an intimate space where people will come together and share certain things. After all, I believe that has always been the purpose of theater. No profits, no markets.“

This authentic theater space has a capacity to accommodate 80 audience members, and within the four walls of Heartefact House, the boundary between actors and the audience is blurred. The present audience has the opportunity to experience up close all the important moments of a theatrical production.

In the previous period, Heartefact House has been a space where many young and creative artists have been given the opportunity to freely create and speak about topics that pain or provoke them, topics that they often cannot discuss in other theaters. In doing so, they give a voice to minority groups and perspectives. Today, on June 13th, the play “Naš sin” (Our Son), which opened the space one year ago, will commemorate the first anniversary. Additionally, during the month of June, the play “Prst” (The Finger) will also be performed on June 19th and 21st.
